Sugoi Clothing - Cross Series

A whole wardrobe of Sugoi clothing!

What? You're a 175 pound male and you just won a pair of XXS fuschia knickers at the local race? No such worries here. Your choice of $500 in Sugoi clothing. Pick what you want in the colour you want and the size that fits you from Olympia Cycle and Ski's selection (Portage Avenue store).

Custom Wheels - Cross Series

From Scott Wiebe:
"the winner will have the option of building up a 700c or 26" wheel, mtn or road hub width, single speed, geared, or eccentric, disc or rim brake compatible. Hubs will be white industries, rims will probably be mavic open pro or mtn bike equivalent, spokes will be dt swiss, cassette will be xt, ultegra or equivalent, or a white industries eno freewheel, total retail value over $1000"

In short, you get to build up almost any type of wheel you like. And how many times does a set of wheels also include a cassette!
White Industries hubs are Suhhweet! Bullet proof, light, beautifully made, and variations to match your favourite ride...

*since the wheels will be custom built for you, the images are only examples

Shimano - Road Series

With the help of our main sponsor Shimano this killer set of wheels!

Shimano RS-80 wheelset (front, rear, skewers, tools). Only 1480 grams. Bladed spokes. Retail with taxes $1350.00

Shimano makes bullet proof, reliable stuff. It's just that their wheels have often lacked that love at first sight factor. That's the old, this is the new. These are sexy! Combine that with Shimano reliablility, serviceable bearings, and light weight too. And someone will take them home on November 28th.

Oval Concepts - Road Series

Sick Oval Concepts R900 fork. Saves 45 seconds an hour at 50 kph!

Weight weenies take note! Oval concepts R950 carbon bars. Only 170 grams. 5 years on the Pro Tour without a single failure. Unique Kevlar layer prevents catastrophic failure. I cannot believe how light these are when I pick them up.

Welcome

Welcome to the MCA participation series site.

For the 2009 season, there are two series, one for road The 2009 Shimano Road Participation Series Presented by Unicity Eye Clinic and one for cyclocross The 2009 MCA Cyclocross Participation Series. Each series has a number of prizes.

The goal of the series are 1) to reward particpation in sport - more specifically in Manitoba Cycling Association events and 2) to help promote those events for the various race organizers in a non-partisan manner. To that end the only way to win a prize is via a draw held at the MCA AGM at the end of November and the only way to gain entries is to race in participating MCA road and cyclocross events respectively. The more races entered the more chances to win. Only licenced MCA members qualify.

It should be noted that although a rider who participates in many races greatly increases their chances to win, last year's Grand Prize winner Cris Labossiere took part in three.

There are $6000 in prizes between the two series, including two sets of wheels, a corporate box at a Manitoba Moose game, $1000 ($600, $250, $150) in gift certificates at your favourite bike stores, $500 gift certificate for Sugoi clothing, and it continues to grow. I'll post more details as things become finalized before the AGM.
